For this project Topeka Electric Motor used a 2000 Chevy S10 extended cab 3 door pickup truck. This Electic Vehicle uses ten 12 volt DC batteries, a Warp 9™ motor and a LogiSystems controller. Additional features include two main 400 amp contractors, an inertia switch, on board water heat system, working five speed manual transmission, vacuum brakes, two battery chargers (one for the 120 volt DC system and one for the 12 volt DC system), and a functioning alternator for the 12 volt DC system. Both chargers are 110 volt so the truck can be plugged in on any 110 volt garage outlet. The battery pack will charge overnight. Our best mileage range to date is 43 miles of in town driving doing pickups and deliveries.

Summary of features/specifications:
- Functioning five speed manual transmission. It shifts just like it did when it was a gas powered vehicle. Many conversions are clutchless. We believe that a shiftable drive train offers many advantages. The drive train has a custom made adaptor to connect the motor to the transmission. The adaptor is affectionately referred to as the “gonkulator.”
- Original 12 volts system was maintained with a functioning alternator for the lights, radio, etc.
- Ten J185H Trojan batteries 12 volts DC each - hooked in series.
- Water heating system. Water passes through a heater core and warm air is delivered through the existing venting system.
- Two main contactors – 400 amp each.
- Inertia switch for added safety.
Topeka Electric Motor is an authorized dealer for NetGain Motors and LogiSystems Controllers. We have been selected to test prototype controllers.
